Product Description:
Fullerene is an allotrope of carbon. Any substance made of carbon in a spherical, elliptical, or tubular form can be called a fullerene. Fullerenes are structurally similar to graphite, but graphite has only six-membered rings in its structure, whereas fullerenes may have five-membered rings. In 1985, Robert Curl et al. prepared C60. In 1989, German scientists Huffman and Kraetschmer's experiments confirmed C60's caged structure, and the discovery of fullerenes by physicists was pushed to a new stage of scientific research. Fullerenes are called fullerenes because their structure is similar to that of Fuller, the architect.
Stability
C6o is a hollow cage structure composed of 12 five-membered rings and 20 six-membered ring carbon atoms. Since the five-membered ring is a tensioned ring and the six-membered ring is a non-tensioned ring, the structure and stability of fullerenes are determined by the so-called The five-membered ring separation rule is determined.
Symmetry
C6o is a spherical 32-hedron composed of 60 carbon atoms; it contains 12 regular pentagonal faces and 20 regular hexagonal faces, 60 vertices are occupied by 60 carbon atoms, and each carbon atom is on a pentagon.
